Dear Xailer users,
The first Xailer 2 RC (release candidate) is ready and we look forward to publish the definitive Xailer 2 on 30 days maximum.
As we have already said on a previous article on this same blog, we have made a complete redesign of datacontrols architecture that have provoke some behavior differences that we tried to solve and we will still try solve in the future.
For those of you that have not follow Xailer 2 evolution I will try to briefly resume some of its new features, that include:
About the IDE:
- New array property editor that can hold any member type on its items
- ‘Calltip’ support for Clipper and Xailer standard functions
- New option ‘Import proyect’
- DLL creation support
- Multi-thread compilation that can multiply by four the compilation speed
- Upgrade to latest version of Scintilla editor (1.77)
- Assistant for final executable creation, with compression and install capabilities
- Third party components support
- Improvement on mouse operation inside the form designer
- Better edition of oImageList property on the object inspector
- Schedule configuration of ‘Auto Update’ system
- New controls TListView, TTabs, TSplitButton and TSysImageList
- New options on code editor contextual menu to search for a method definition and return back afterwards
- Better multiple monitor support: Forms are loaded and saved on the same monitor where the object inspector is
- Visual display of modified lines on the code editor, showing in red the modified unsaved lines and in green the modified and saved lines
- Ability to modified the same property on more than one control at the same time
About Run-time libraries:
- TDataSource: New property aSQLparams that greatly facilitates the construction of SQL sentences
- TDataSource: Enhancements on BuildSQLSt() function to support any data type, even with non friendly SQL characters inside
- TSQLiteDataSource: New core functions: local_timestamp(), ctod() y dtoc()
- TSQLiteDataSource: DateTime data type support
- TSQLiteDataSource: Encription support. SQLite does not include this feature
- TAdoDataSource: New method ConnectTag() to retrieve or change any ADO connection parameter
- TImage: Support of multi-image graphics on TIFF and GIF formats
- TDatePicker: Support of time formats
- TRichEdit: Docx support, conversion to HTML, file drag & drop and table insertion
- TTabCtrl: New property lTabCloseButtons to display a cross picture that closes the tab
- TApplication: New general events
- Form scale: Manual and automatic form scale depending on the system font DPI used
- TReport: Left and right alignment support at the same time on Headers and footers
- TReport: Better Excel export, supporting events and treating correctly numeric values
- TDBBrowse: Wild mark support (%) on filter columns
- TListView: New control based on ListView API control
- TCanvas: New methods Ellipse and ExtFloodFill
- THeader y TBrowse: Multi-line support on headers

We are aware that some important functionalities that we announced that it will be on Xailer 2, are not available, but we believe that Xailer 2 should be published in the short term with the important functionality already included. However, we commit ourselves that during the life cycle of Xailer 2 we will include the following enhancements:
- Data modules support
- ActiveX visual design
- Templatess (save a forms as a template)
- Assistant for typical form creation
- Complete support of Copy & paste operations
- Form designer undo capability
- Support of multiple proyects on a single IDE
We expect to achieve all this enhancements as soon as possible.
