New Xailer version 1.76

Dear Xailer user,

A new Xailer version 1.76 is available from the following link:

http://www.xailer.com/files/xailer17.exe

Is also necessary to download the latest version of our xHarbour binaries updated up to 12/11/2007 and with some minor fixes made by us to solve some bugs on its OOP engine. You may download it from the following link:

http://www.xailer.com/files/xharboursetup.exe

This new version fixes all the specific errors of version 1.7 plus all the corrections and enhancements made in version 1.6.

As we told you on previous articles, the version 1.7 is constructed with the latest xHarbour binaries available on its CVS, for that reason we decide to set it as a non-stable version and we kept alive version 1.6. We believe that right now, version 1.76 is enough mature and can be used on production environments, and for that reason we recommend its use.

The actual version 1.66 will not have further upgrades, being necessary to jump to version 1.7 for future upgrades. The life cycle of version 1.7 will also be very short since the new version 1.8 will be published really soon with some important new features.

We have also published within the IDE automatic update system, the upgrade from version 1.75 to 1.76. Though this new version works with the xHarbour published version 1.7, we recommend to upgrade to the newest version of xHarbour indicated on this same article.

Best regards,

New Xailer version 1.75 and 1.65

Dear Xailer users,

As surely many of you already know, our link to Xailer version 1.7 that we published few days ago has been broken during a short period due some important problems that did arise on the IDE and Xailer library.

After the corrections of all those problems we are ready to publish again a new version of Xailer that now is published as version 1.75. Unfortunately is necessary to download again the complete Xailer, being impossible the use of the automatic update system.

We have included to this new version fixes to all the bugs founded on version 1.70. For further information please consult the file ‘whatsnew.htm’.

We also also updated the actual version of Xailer 1.6 to 1.65, that as usual, you may download from our web pages at: http://www.xailer.com

The download of version 1.75 can be done from the same link as version 1.7:

http://www.xailer.com/files/xailer17.exe

I remind you that for version 1.7 you must also download the new xHarbour binaries from:

http://www.xailer.com/files/xharboursetup.exe

Finally, we have a small modification on our register system and all of you that did install Xailer on hard drive different form the system hard drive will have to register again your copy of Xailer. Of course it will not increase the number of activations given. Sorry for any inconvenience.

New Xailer version 1.7

Dear Xailer user,

After the launch of Xailer version 1.6 we present immediately the new version 1.7 with the only difference that it has been constructed with the latest version of xHarbour available from its CVS, exactly on September, the fourth of 2007.

The new version of xHarbour is not compatible with the one used by Xailer 1.6, for that reason is completely necessary to reconstruct all your projects and any Xailer libraries that you may be using. If when you start the application from the IDE you just simply see a empty debug window, or you receive a GPF when you launch the application from outside the IDE, then surely, you are using some module compiled with the previous version of xHarbour.

This new version of xHarbour has been tested by us and its working nicely, but logically is possible that it may have some bugs, so we can not guarantee the same stability of the previous version 1.6. BTW, we animate everybody to probe it so we can get your feedback about any possible error you may find, that we will try to fix as soon as possible.

During Xailer version 1.7 life cycle, any bug found on Xailer that also affects to version 1.6, we will publish automatic updates for both versions.

You may download this new version from:

http://www.xailer.com/files/xailer17.exe

You must also download the new xHarbour binaries from:

http://www.xailer.com/files/xharboursetup.exe

Best regards,

Datacontrols: Errors management

Traditionally on xBase the Database control management was done in advance, that is to say, you just control that no run-time error would be generated and for that job you used the RLock(), FLock() or NetErr() functions. RLock() and FLock() are functions that permit to perform updates on the DBF table when is opened in shared mode and NetErr() function basically permits to check if a USE or APPEND BLANK operation has been made correctly. Logically with Xailer you can still use this same scheme.
